Goathland is used in the drama as the village of Aidensfield.

Goathland Post Office and Gift Shop stocks a large selection of quality gifts, Heartbeat souvenirs, books & maps, confectionary, drinks, newspapers, local made Ice Cream and offers an ATM machine and phone top ups.
Goathland has two car parks both very near the parade of shops.
Visit Goathland and you will recognise many places which have been used in the filming of Heartbeat, Goathland Post Office (Aidensfield Post Office) has been featured in every episode and was once run by Oscar Blaketon. The Police House is situated opposite the shops, Scripps Garage is here. The Cottage sandwiched between Goathland Gift Shop & Goathland Post Office is used as Nurse Cassidy's flat and Goathland Gift Shop is used as Marjorie's Beauty Salon.
Goathland offers many attractions throughout the whole of the year, The Plough Stots a traditional long sword dance team hold the annual blessing of the plough in January and can be seen dancing.
Craft Fairs are regularly held in the Village Hall with Teas and homemade cakes etc.
The railway station has many events including Steam Gala weekends and Vintage Vehicle displays.
In October the village is involved in the Wartime weekend when the railway is taken back to the time of the war.
